Kuala Lumpur: The housing and local government ministry revived 177 private housing projects comprising 20,489 units with a gross development value (GDV) of RM14.89 billion from Jan 1 to April 30.

In a Bernama report, deputy housing and local government minister Aiman Athirah Sabu said 163 of these projects had obtained certificates of completion and compliance.

Last December, the task force on sick, delayed and abandoned private housing projects said it had identified 655 housing projects categorised as sick, delayed and abandoned with a GDV of RM79.03 billion as of Sept 30.

Today, Aiman said the task force had identified 438 housing projects classified as “sick”, 205 classified as “delayed”, and 115 classified as “abandoned” from Jan 1 to April 30. These projects have a GDV of RM189.67 billion.

“While statistics on sick, delayed, and abandoned private housing projects are dynamic, they are showing a decreasing trend,” she said.

“The ministry is ready to collaborate with the relevant stakeholders and remains committed to addressing the issue of sick, delayed, and abandoned private housing projects across the country.”
