Filipino jailed, fined RM7,000

KENINGAU: The Sessions Court sentenced a 57-year-old man, Eting @ Najar Asdali, to three years jail and RM7,000 fine or three years in prison for trafficking a Filipino last year.
The accused, who did not have any documents, pleaded guilty before the Sessions Court Judge, Marlina Ibrahim after the charges were read out to him.

The accused was charged under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (Act 670).
Eting was accused of trafficking a Filipino, Arnisa Sabihi Barahama, who obtained a passport by deception for the purpose of dealing in drugs.
He committed the offence between September 20, 2023 and November 10, 2023 m on September 20, 2023 at an unnumbered house in Kampung Bambangan, Jalan Lintuhun, Namadan in Sook Sub-District.
The victim was rescued by a Keningau Immigration team led by Senior Deputy Assistant Superintendent Dickson @ David Bilin on November 10, 2023.
