12-foot crocodile captured by Gaya Island villagers

KOTA KINABALU: Villagers of Kampung Lok Baru on Gaya Island, near here, captured a 12-foot crocodile on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the police received information about the capture at 4:30pm on Wednesday.

"An initial investigation found that the villagers had spotted the crocodile in the village waters before collectively deciding to capture it using ropes and boats," he said in a statement, Thursday.

The crocodile was transferred to a Malaysian Civil Defence Department boat for further action at 5:30 PM.
