Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s first private integrated clinker and cement plant in Lahad Datu, which recently obtained Sirim approval, has started making waves in the domestic construction sector – it is being used in the Crowne Plaza Hotel project at the Waterfront, here.
“We are already being swamped with orders because our cement is not only of quality standard but more competitive in pricing,” said Borneo Oil Berhad Executive Director Datuk Joseph Ambrose Lee.

He said this is the first time the Sabah cement is being sought by a major development in the State Capital.
“Until now we were concentrating on meeting demand in the east coast,” he said, adding the outlook for Sabah’s clinker and cement industry looked promising given the current high cement prices in Sabah.
