Filipino gets 8 years for robbing woman
The offence under Section 392 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 14 years and whipping, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 34-year-old Filipino was jailed eight years and ordered given two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court for robbing a female e-hailing driver four years ago.

Omar Boy, an IMM13 holder, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus to robbing Nor Isnarezam Zahari, 23, of a Perodua Bezza and personal belongings.

The crime took place at 11.50am on Mac 26, 2022 by the roadside of Jalan Sulaman, here.

The offence under Section 392 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 14 years and whipping, on conviction.

The court heard from the prosecution that on the said day, Nor was ferrying Omar, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat.

Omar then threatened Nor and told if she did not cooperate, he will stab her and then proceeded to take all her belongings, including her wallet, handbag and mobile phone before driving off in her car.

Omar was arrested by police on April 21 2022.

Unrepresented, Omar requested for leniency as it was his first offence.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan asked for a deterrent sentence that it was a serious offence where the victim was a female and he also threatened to kill her.

Elsie ordered Omar referred to the Immigration Department after serving his jail sentence.
