Illegal entry: 15 Filipinos jailed
They committed the offence on April 29, at 3.05pm on board of a boat 7.6 nautical miles northwest of Tg Simpang Mengayau.
Kota Kinabalu: Fifteen Filipinos were sentenced to four months’ jail each by the Sessions Court here Monday for illegal entry.

The 15, aged between 18 and 51, pleaded guilty separately before Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim after the charges were read out to them through a Bajau Ubian interpreter.

They were Dorhan Naizal, Alnon Saraman, Abdul Halim Sahak, Md Jalan Utumilsa, Jakli Pare, Asdin Almisain, Paisal Naijal, Latip Naijal, Elwin Abdullah, Abdulhid Abdulmuji, Braniel Brasil, Madzmel Holmen, Kasmal Abdul Muji, Melsidu Baldu and Juan Lucas,  

They committed the offence on April 29, at 3.05pm on board of a boat 7.6 nautical miles northwest of Tg Simpang Mengayau.

They were each charge under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction.

The court ordered them to serve the sentence from the date of their arrest and ordered them to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Nurun Nazifah Muhammad Iyen prosecuted.
