TAWAU: The State Government will continue to collaborate with the Home Affairs Ministry to strengthen further efforts to combat drug abuse in this state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
In line with the Home Affairs Ministry's focus on national security and sovereignty, including safety and crime prevention, Hajiji said the State Government would also fully support initiatives that can reduce drug problems in this state.

Therefore, he wants all relevant agencies, such as the National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada), Sabah Youth Council (SYC), federal and state agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work together to ensure drug prevention education programmes are implemented, especially in high-risk areas.
"I take note of the empowerment of public awareness programmes regarding drug misuse among youth.
"I believe SYC and its affiliated bodies can be protective factors for at-risk youth," he said during the AADK Community Programme in conjunction with the Sabah State Anti-Drug Day 2024 at the Tawau Municipal Council Square here on Sunday.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Public Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya delivered his speech.
