PENAMPANG: Kepayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said free HPV (Human Papillomavirus) screening will be given in five areas on May 10-12.

The programme, in collaboration with the Rose Foundation and Wanita DAP Sabah, targets five districts namely Darau, Kapayan, Keningau, Kemabong and Tulid.

In a statement, Jannie said 500 women will have the opportunity to undergo free HPV testing through self-sampling.

This programme is aimed at women aged 30-65 years who have not undergone hysterectomy, do not experience heavy menstrual flow on the day of screening, not pregnant, and have not had an HPV test in the past five years, she added.

Jannie emphasised the importance of the programme, stating, “This initiative is part of my commitment to a healthy lifestyle.”

The screening locations and timings are as follows:
  • May 10: Taman Blok B, Taman Puri Warisan Kalansanan, Inanam, Darau (morning) and Dewan Othman Peter Andu Taman Mat Salleh, Kota Kinabalu Prison Quarters (evening)
  • May 11: Dewan Serbaguna KBS Keningau (morning) and Rumah Kebudayaan Kg Sugiang Tengah, Kemabong Tenom (afternoon)
  • May 12: Dewan Kampung Magatang and Dewan Kampung Lalapakon in the Tulid area

The programme will be overseen by two doctors from the Rose Foundation, along with women leaders in the respective areas.

Any positive screening results will be followed up with treatment at nearby hospitals, ensuring that those in need receive the necessary care and support.
