TVET education, training are for all, parents told
Asriani hoped that KKLD would become a reference centre for the Lahad Datu community and become a leader in the implementation of TVET in the district.
LAHAD DATU: Parents are advised to change their perception that technical and vocational education and training (TVET) are for those who do not want to study.

Lahad Datu Community College (KKLD) Deputy Director (Academic) Asriani Karim said TVET is one of the fields that can lead children to success.

“TVET is an education and training process that has a job orientation with a major emphasis on industry practices.

“The Government is also aware of the need for TVET in this country and is targeting 100,000 TVET graduates within five years to open a new economic focus.

“Last March, the Deputy Prime Minister announced that a study on the Special Salary Act for TVET graduates had been made. This study targets a minimum salary of RM4,000 and above for TVET graduates,” he said.

He said this when representing the KKLD Director in officiating the launch of the Riang Ria TVET and Bulan TVET@KKLD, here.

Asriani hoped that KKLD would become a reference centre for the Lahad Datu community and become a leader in the implementation of TVET in the district.

He said KKLD, which focuses on the food processing technology industry, opens space for everyone to learn even if they are 25 years old or older.

“We are aware of the reality that most of us may already have other jobs or housewives or whatever circumstances make it difficult for us to take a full-time course.

“Because of that, we have prepared a short-term course called Lifelong Learning (PSH) where through this programme, participants can attend a five-hour course with a minimum fee of RM5 and get a valid certificate from KKLD,” he added.

Asriani also presented the letter of appointment of the College Advisory Committee members chaired by Mohamad Nizar Rusman.
