Inaugural tourney attracts 70 Muaythai fighters
Kota Kinabalu: The inaugural KK MuayThai Sport & Super 4 2024 event was successfully held at Cs5Fitness Gym in Penampang recently.

The one-day event attracted a total of 70 participants from various districts across Sabah as well as from Perak, Melaka and Johor.

Gym chairman Calvin Shung was delighted with the positive response and thanked the referees and technical team led by Jonathan Quan for their contribution to ensure its success.

He said the audiences were captivated with thrilling matches and impressive displays of skill from youths aged 6 to 17 as well as adults in the open categories.

Some of the the main events’ winners were gold - Rhovian Chia/Cs5fitness, silver - Muhammad Izack Devid/D’Sha Muayfit, bronze - Den Mcleemore/Karabaw Tamparuli & Arlone Edwell/Revo Kota Marudu (Super 4 Youth 60kg 14-17); gold - Zeffenzie Hezron/KMMA Sabah, silver - Mohd Firdaus Hakimi/Seladang Hitam (Super Fight Male Open 63.5kg); gold - Nurhuda Fakira/Seladang Hitam Perak, silver - Jezdiana Jailsie Jackson/Monster Muaythai (Semi-Pro Female Open 54kg); gold - Nur Rania Rayhnna/Panthera Fight team Johor, silver - Evyanka Qistina Ady/ D’Sha Muayfit Tawau (Semi-Pro Youth Female 45kg 12-13); gold - Muhammad Haikal Faiz/Black Cat Empire Melaka, silver - Nick Nynell Arletto/Revo Kota Marudu (Semi-Pro Youth 37kg 13-14).

Kerry Dryan Jafili from Karabaw Tamparuli was awarded the best male boxer and Bethany Lai from Monster Muaythai took the female honour while Jaethan Quan  from Monster Muaythai/Cs5fitness  won the Rising Star youth combat waikru Maemuay title.

The organisers expressed their gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry, especially permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun as well as other sponsors  including Legacy Real Estate, Delfi Marketing Sdn Bhd, CS Bone Setter, and Black Cat Empire for their support.

Calvin also extended his appreciation to Sabah Sports Council director Mohd Asneh Mohd Noor and his deputy Valerie Wong, Sabah Muaythai Association president Nazri Abd Razak and State coach Cyrille Dhillon Tahing for their presence at the closing ceremony.
