Mahathir under investigation, confirms MACC
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the agency is probing former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as part of its investigation into his sons’ finances.
GUA MUSANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is under investigation.

Chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Mahathir’s two sons had also been served a notice to declare their assets within the period stipulated in the notice, under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009.

“I don’t intend to go into more details about the case.

“Let MACC continue with the investigation first until I think of a suitable time for us to announce the findings of the investigation into the case,” he said here today.

Meanwhile, Azam said the MACC will make several more arrests in connection with a case of alleged falsified claims, which involves Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli’s son.

Azam said investigations were still ongoing.

“We will call up several others to have their statements recorded,” he said.

In addition, he said the MACC might apply for a new remand order for the suspects currently under detention to give investigating officers more time.

Shukri’s son was among six people arrested by the MACC yesterday in investigations into allegations of falsified documents to make RM600,000 in claims since 2022.
