Navy names Lumut helicopter crash fatalities

Screenshots from a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media shows one helicopter crashing into the tail of another mid-air, and both crashing to the ground.
PETALING JAYA: The Royal Malaysian Navy has released the identities of the 10 crew members who were killed in a collision between two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters in Lumut, Perak, this morning.
In a statement, the navy said the seven crew members on board the HOM (M503-3) were:
- Firdaus Ramli
- Wan Rezaudeen Kamal Wan Zainal Abidin
- Amirulfaris Marzukhi
- Faisol Tamadun
- Norfarahimi Saedy
- Noor Rahiza Anuwar
- Joanna Felicia Rohna

- T Sivasutan
- Shahrizan Termizi
“TLDM extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims involved. The management of the remains will be carried out in accordance with naval tradition,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that the victims were based at the Lumut and Kota Kinabalu naval bases.
“The Navy has informed the families of the victims. Full details on the victims will be released through a media statement later,” Yusri told a press conference at the Lumut naval base.
ADVERTISEMENT “The remains of all victims have been brought to the Lumut Military Hospital, but the post-mortem would be conducted at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh,” he said.
He added that investigations would involve two main sites, namely the naval base’s stadium and the swimming pool at the base’s sports complex.

Earlier, the Perak fire and rescue department confirmed that the 10 had died at the scene.
