Kuala Lumpur: Efforts are underway to increase the number of Bumiputera accountants that currently comprise only 31.8 per cent of the workforce.
It includes a scholarship fund involving the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) and Yayasan Peneraju.

ICAEW’s fully funded scholarship programme with Mara would see its first graduates comprising 200 students by 2026.
Yayasan Peneraju Thrust Lead Herlina Hj Ahmad said the partnership with ICAEW, now in its sixth year, is important also to meet the target of 60,000 professional accountants for Malaysia by 2030.
