Sabah to host Cafeo in October

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah will host the Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations Conference 2024 (Cafeo) from October 22 to 24.
According to Chin Tet Fu @ Willy, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), the conference themed “Charting Asean Growth with Digital Transformation, Smart Engineering and Green Solutions” is expected to draw 1,500 attendees from 10 Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations.

“Engineers will attend the conference which will include technical sessions, discussions, keynote speeches and exhibitions aimed at tackling engineering challenges, fostering collaboration and promoting best practices in the Asean engineering community.
“The last time Malaysia hosted Cafeo was in 2015, in Penang,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the Istana Seri Kinabalu, here, Monday.
Willy said the purpose of the visit was to inform Juhar that Sabah will be hosting the Cafeo 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
Shahafeez Shaharis, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Sabah Regional Office, also paid Juhar a courtesy visit.

The purpose of the visit was to update Juhar on the country’s present state of affairs and the services provided by the Ministry, notably to embassies in Sabah, as well as to inform the former of his (Shahafeez) appointment as Director, which took effect in August 2023.
Shahafeez previously served in the Ministry’s Asean Malaysia National Secretariat and as the Minister’s Counsellor at the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin, Germany.
