Kota Kinabalu: The Be In Sabah Business Events Forum unveiled a new chapter that is filled with promise, opportunity and limitless potential for Sabah, said Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) Sabah Chair Datuk Dr Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki.

“Although we do not have the hardware and software like the other bigger cities like Dubai or Singapore, here in Sabah, we have what bigger cities do not possess a harmonious fusion of culture and nature.

“This unique blend sets Sabah apart, promising boundless opportunities for growth and recognition on the global stage. At the heart of this potential lies our human capital – individuals in forums like this who are the movers and shakers, continually driving progress and innovation.

“As we embark on a new chapter, we reaffirm our dedication to elevating Sabah as a premier destination for global business events.

Together, we will persist in drawing the world to Sabah, forging a future ripe with opportunities and endless potential,” she said at the closing of the two-day Be In Sabah Business Events Forum – Gathering of the International Business Events Communities – at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, recently.

Rosmawati, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of SICC, said the forum was a journey that is marked by dedication, collaboration and strategic partnerships.

“Our collective efforts are focused on positioning Sabah as one of the preferred destinations for business events and although our landscape is smaller, our impact will resonate across the Asian-Pacific Region,” she added.

She also expressed gratitude to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) for their steadfast commitment to advancing the global Business Events industry, saying their invaluable contributions have played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the industry in Sabah.

“Looking forward, it’s evident that the future of business events in Sabah centres greatly on fostering connections and cultivating relationships.

In a world where geographical distances seem to diminish by the day, the importance of strong engagement cannot be overstated.”

According to her, over the past two days, they had witnessed authentic sharing and engaging discussions facilitated by both international and local speakers and moderators.

“I would like to especially mention a speaker Professor Dr Keiko for her inspiring sharing about our rich tapestry of nature and culture. I was pleasantly surprised during her session, she said she had changed her presentation after visiting the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

“This marks the fulfilment of one of our objectives: to invite international speakers and experts in the field of business events, to witness and advocate on our behalf. They will shed light on what Sabah has to offer, particularly in the topics of sustainability and conservation, for future congregations on these issues,” said Rosmawati.

She also appreciated the invaluable contribution of the MACEOS as a pivotal engagement platform within the industry.

Their concerted efforts have played a vital role in the shared mission to elevate Sabah as a top-tier destination for business events, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Our journey has been marked by a relentless dedication to enhancing Sabah’s presence on the global stage of business events.

Through the inception of the MACEOS Sabah Chapter, we’ve harnessed momentum and clarity, empowering us to advocate for business events in the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.

“As we commemorate our accomplishments, it is crucial to acknowledge the ongoing journey ahead. With steadfast backing from the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and our committed stakeholders, especially the Sabah State Government, Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture and State Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry, we are ready to surpass even greater milestones,” she said.
