RANAU: The damaged suspension bridge that connects Kg Lungkidau with other villages in Paginatan due to floods will be dealt with immediately.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said that the matter had actually been submitted to the National Natural Disaster Agency (NADMA) and also the Ranau Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB).

“This matter has indeed received our attention since the beginning and an immediate response has been given.  Now we are still waiting for the next action from the agencies.

“Regarding the concrete bridge to Kg Lungkidau that caught the attention of the Yang Dipertuan Agung during His Majesty’s Borneo Tour, JKR is also in the process finalising the technical design and quotations are expected to be issued soon,” he said.

On the development of Pekan Kecil Paginatan, Abidin added the LPPB had appointed a surveyor to identify the boundaries of the area between the villages of Kg Paginatan and Kg Lungkidau where the surveyors are  believed to be already in the field.

“Paginatan has 83 villages that have JKKKs, so the allocation from the Government is distributed to all those villages.

“However, we will still try to solve the problems faced by villages by using all the resources we have,” he said, adding that applications from the villages would be considered accordingly.

Abidin, who is also the Paginatan Assemblyman, said when officiating the Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat at Dewan Kg Terikon Ranau on Saturday.

In the meantime, he also urged the residents here to continue the existing cooperation among the local community.

“There needs to be close cooperation between the Native Court (MAN), JKKKs, the villagers representatives of the Wakil Rakyat in Paginatan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kg Terikon JKKK Chairman, Licos George requested help for village, including wiring of two houses, one of which belonged to a single father.

“The residents here also need a 200-foot suspension bridge for the urgent needs of the villagers to cross the river, in addition to the expansion of the village hall kitchen and adequate kitchen equipment,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were Ranau’s Chief Parliamentary Liaison Officer representing Ranau MP Datuk Jonathan Yasin, Benedict Gunda, Special Officer to Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Juis Konsuling, Head of Native Chief (KAN), Sawalin Zakaria, KAN Jaimin Jeffry, Mukim Developer, Yasiri Bijin and others.
