Gabungan Rakyat Sabah not part of any plot: CM
Hajiji questioned the motive and intention of the so-called “Langkah Dubai” perpetrators whether it is merely to fulfil their own political agenda without any care for the people’s wellbeing.
Kota Kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will never take part in any attempt to topple the present Federal Unity Government, as it will lead to chaos and greatly affect the nation’s stability.

“We have a functioning Federal Government that has good relations with our State Government, why rock the boat?” said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Hajiji who is GRS Chairman also questioned the motive and intention of the so-called “Langkah Dubai” perpetrators whether it is merely to fulfil their own political agenda without any care for the people’s wellbeing.

“We work for the nation’s and people’s prosperity, we do not support any move that will destabilise the country,” he said.

“Malaysia practises democracy, those aspiring to become the Prime Minister should just wait for the general elections to see if the people accept them,” he said.

“GRS fully support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and we are confident of his leadership. Let him lead our multiracial country to prosperity,” he said.

Earlier, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah told the Prime Minister the palace would not get involved in political machinations.

“He also ordered for me as Prime Minister and the Madani government to continue administering the country,” Anwar Ibrahim said in a Facebook post.

Anwar’s post, made following his weekly audience with the King, was amid claims that the opposition was attempting to topple the unity government.

On Sunday, PN election director Sanusi Nor claimed that the opposition had enough statutory declarations from MPs to topple the unity government.

A day before, a Bersatu MP backing Anwar insisted that up to eight opposition MPs would announce their support for the Prime Minister soon.

In February last year, the King said he had no intention of getting involved in the nation’s politics, “let alone get involved in political manoeuvres.”

Meanwhile, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil reminded the public that sharing fake or slanderous news on social media is punishable by law, especially if it involves the Agong.

Fahmi said there had been several police reports lodged on the fake news recently that RM1 billion was being touted as a war chest to entice MPs to jump ship to topple the government.

He said that another rumour claimed that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was purportedly trying to bribe the Agong.

“I think the Home Minister will touch on this soon as several police reports were made, but I want to remind the public to not share fake news or slander on social media as it is a crime.

“Accusations like the ones making the rounds yesterday and today that the prime minister didn’t actually meet the Agong are done by these cybertroopers who are influencing the people with misinformation.

“Let me be clear: I was with the Prime Minister and the Agong and the King is in Malaysia.

“So please, this is a crime as you are now implicating the Agong by saying he wasn’t there when in fact he is here in Malaysia.”
