Better for Labuan to be in Borneo Bloc

An activist and community leader, George Elias, said by being in the bloc Labuan could also ask for dual use of language in correspondence with government agencies as both Sabah and Sarwak did and succeeded.
LABUAN: Political parties here should seek to have Labuan included in the Borneo Bloc so that the island will not be isolated and is able to enjoy similar treatment accorded to Sabah and Sarawak.
An activist and community leader here, George Elias, said by being in the bloc Labuan could also ask for dual use of language in correspondence with government agencies as both Sabah and Sarwak did and succeeded.
“There may be also other such issues arising in future affecting Borneo which would also have a bearing on Labuan which belonged to Sabah until 1984 when the Berjaya government under Tan Sri Harris Salleh handed it over, which the former CM later also regretted.
