PENAMPANG: The media plays a key part in the nation’s goal to end AIDS by 2030, said Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna.
“The media has great power in shaping the perception of individuals and communities regarding HIV and AIDS, spreading accurate information, and moving the community towards prevention and treatment,” he said Monday at the State-level World AIDS Day programme held at the Penampang Cultural Centre.

He also said that the media may dispel myths, misconceptions, and stigma associated with HIV and AIDS by serving as a platform for experts, policymakers, health care professionals, and the general public.
Dr Asits said the theme of World AIDS Day 2023, “Let Communities Lead,” represents the need for ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders, particularly the community, in dealing with the threat of HIV in the community.
