PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has lodged a police report against Bersatu leader Razali Idris for allegedly defaming the graft-busters.
Razali had last month claimed that MACC and the judges were controlled by the government.
ADVERTISEMENT He said this when launching the election machinery for the Dec 2 Kemaman by-election.
Razali, who is the Terengganu Bersatu chief, was also heard questioning the High Court’s verdict regarding the case of Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
The Muar MP was recently sentenced to seven years’ jail for abetting in criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of assets and money laundering.
An excerpt of the speech given by Razali, who is also the party’s information chief, was shared on TikTok by @wancin11.

In a statement, MACC said Razali’s claims were both slanderous and defamatory.
Such claims could erode the public’s confidence in the authorities.

“MACC is an enforcement agency that is strengthened by law to carry out its functions and roles to curb corruption professionally and independently without being controlled by any party.”
It went on to express hope that immediate action would be taken against those who slandered the commission.
