‘Anthony should discuss internal political issues within party’
Former Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Ronnie Loh
Former Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Ronnie Loh said internal political party issues should be discussed through proper channels rather than on social media.

He was reacting to DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke’s recent statement on the conferment of “Datuk” title to two representatives of the party in Sabah which seemed to downplay the significance of the honour.

Ronnie expressed his disappointment over Anthony’s repeated use of social media to address internal matters.

According to Ronnie, this marks the second instance in which Anthony chose to publicly voice concerns that should have been handled privately within the party.

He urged Anthony to apologise to Sabah’s Head of State as the action in question was deemed rude and highly embarrassing to the people of Sabah.

Ronnie, veteran leader Datuk Aloysius Mobijin and Datin Soh Kee Suat also took a decisive step to address the issue by delivering a letter to the Head of State at the Istana Seri Kinabalu, urging swift action against Anthony.

Soh said Anthony should be aware of his actions and should stop.

“As a Sabahan, I hope this will not happen for the third time,” she said.

Aloysius, 80, a former member of the British North Borneo Police and the Royal Malaysia Police, also expressed his disappointment.

“If he (Anthony) disapproves of his party members receiving awards from the Head of State, the issue should be addressed internally within the party.

“His public statement is viewed as a display of disrespect towards the Head of State,” he said.
