First-ever Thai event in East Malaysia at Sabah International Convention Centre soon
Kota Kinabalu: Mini Thailand Week 2023, in partnership with Sabah International Expo (SIE) 2023, is set to make history as the first-ever Thai event in East Malaysia.

Scheduled to take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here concurrently with SIE 2023 from Sept 21 to 24, it is expected to bring in export trade exceeding US$15 million.

The event will feature an array of indoor and outdoor booths showcasing the very best of Thai culture, cuisine and innovation.

Jointly organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Department of International Trade and Promotion (DITP Malaysia) and Tourism Authority of Thailand, the vibrant trade and cultural extravaganza promises to be a remarkable experience for attendees from all walks of life.

Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, Lada Phumas, said the expo will greatly contribute to the Thailand-Malaysia bilateral trade target of US$30 billion by 2025.

“Thailand is here to support Sabah and promote people-to-people connectivity, trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Sabah, overall Malaysia as well as BIMP-EAGA.

“For most Thai exhibitors and cultural performers, it will be their first time to visit East Malaysia,” she said.

DITP Malaysia Director Worawan Wanwil said:

“I am truly proud and honoured to bring Mini Thailand Week 2023 to Sabah for the very first time in history.

“We anticipate a fruitful collaboration with SIE, and aspire to foster increased trade and business opportunities, benefiting the people of Malaysia and the South East Asian region,” he said.

Mini Thailand Week 2023 will host a total of 70 booths, each thoughtfully curated to represent the rich tapestry of Thai products and culture.

The booths will cover six main categories, namely Food & Beverages, Lifestyle Products, Smart Farming, BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) and Go Green, Food Processing, and Food Innovation.

Offering a rich diversity of opportunities, this event promises to cater to a broad spectrum of participants, including CEOs, COOs, business owners, bankers, investors, buyers, procurement officers and the general public.

The event is set to commence with an exclusive B2B session on Sept 21.

Visitors can also look forward to engaging activities throughout the event, including captivating Thai performances that will transport them to the heart of Thailand.

Additionally, there will be exciting cooking demos where attendees can learn the secrets behind their favourite Thai dishes.
