Impersonating government officials: Seven detained

KOTA KINABALU: Seven individuals were arrested in connection with impersonating government officials, here.

In a statement, the Sabah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said all suspects are Malaysians aged between 20 and 30.

The suspects in the syndicate impersonated MACC and Home Ministry senior officials and scammed victims who lost up to hundreds of thousands of ringgit.

"The raids carried out in several locations by the Sabah MACC with the cooperation of the police around here, over the past few days, were based on intelligence," said Sabah MACC, Sunday.
