PKDM supports Anti-Hop Bill, GRS-led government
Peter who is Melalap Assemblyman said he and Bandau Assemblyman cum Kota Marudu MP Datuk Wetrom Bahanda had yet to receive allocation from the State Government.
PENAMPANG: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat President Datuk Peter Anthony said PKDM supports the imminent State-level Anti-Hop Bill so that the problem of party hopping among elected representatives can be prevented in Sabah.

“Once this Bill is passed, it will take one to two months to be gazetted.

So for those who wish to jump to another party, should not wait until the Bill is passed which will prohibit him or her joining a new party,” he said, tongue-in-cheek.

He also said his deputy Datuk Juil Nuatim did not inform or discuss with him or the party leadership before announcing that he had quit the party on Saturday.

“We wish him the best and hope he gets happiness in Parti Gagasan.

He stated that he left to support the State Government, I find this ironic because we at PKDM level has stated our stand of supporting the government of the day.

“Maybe because of not getting government allocation or has yet to receive the funding. PKDM has no problem as the country practices democracy that allows people or politicians to choose their respective (political) directions,” he said.

Peter said PKDM was invited to attend the convention of Unity Government recently with top national leaders where the Federal Government recognised PKDM’s support,” he told a press conference at PKDM headquarters, Monday.

Juil who co-founded PKDM with Peter in January, last year, said he would be a pro-government independent assemblyman and that the decision had nothing to do with this week’s tabling of the State-level Anti-Hop Bill at the State Legislative Assembly.

The Limbahau Assemblyman said it was for the sake of the grassroots and the will of the people in his constituency who want development.

Peter who is Melalap Assemblyman said he and Bandau Assemblyman cum Kota Marudu MP Datuk Wetrom Bahanda had yet to receive allocation from the State Government.

“When I just returned from Kuala Lumpur after attending the Unity Government convention, I was informed by the Prime Minister that allocation would be channelled soon.

“If there is allocation we will be pleased but if there is none, we will still continue with our struggle. The people in our constituencies are aware of the situation…about us not getting government funding,” he said.

Peter said not all the PKDM Limbahau main committee joined Juil.

On a claim stating that PKDN is working with Warisan and Barisan Nasional (BN), Peter said such claim is just speculation because PKDM has yet to make any decision to work with any political parties now as the party is supporting the present GRS-led State government and also Federal Unity government.
