PAPAR: A total of 136 computer units worth RM108,800 will be distributed to selected Kemas Kindergartens nationwide.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), said distribution by CelcomDigi Berhad would start in early 2023.

“This donated computer equipment has been refurbished and are still in good working order.

“It is in line with the implementation of Tabika Kemas Early Childhood Education Digital Transformation Plan which aims to become an aspiration for the development of the digital talent of the nation’s children.

“Celcom has also handed over computers to 42 selected Kemas Nurseries, most of which are in Sabah and have benefited nearly 1,000 children,” he said, during the KKDW Ramadan Charity Ceremony.

The ceremony held at Kg Benoni Papar Mosque was attended by 1,500 people consisting of orphans, tahfiz students, asnaf and the local community.

He said Tabika Kemas community educators would also be given training to implement digital learning.  “This is to ensure they are capable of teaching and learning and provide early exposure and help children master digital skills.

“Kemas also collaborates with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to provide guidance to nursery teachers in implementing learning based on digital literacy to meet today’s needs,” he said. Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Arif, Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin and Federal Secretary Sabah (SUP) Datuk Makhzan Mahyuddin.
