RANAU: The Academy in Industry (AiI) initiative is an effort to help youth and target groups get jobs and improve skills.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this initiative, with the concept of real training in a company, is the best platform for Sabah youth who want to work while studying.

“The Government’s efforts are to increase productivity, especially in supporting the Government’s aspirations to produce skilled workers in line with the needs of the industry.

“It will also help increase the marketability of the Malaysian workforce that can solve various challenges related to job opportunities, learning opportunities and can increase productivity through the talents of local people.

“These people will be trained for 18 months and then given a Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) and will be trained and given exposure to the skills sought by employers based on the concept of hands-on and on-the-job training.

“The State Government strongly supports this initiative in line with the commitment of the State Government to be investor-friendly.

“Presently there is a dire need for more skilled local workers and it is hoped that young Sabahans will be able to seize this opportunity to increase their knowledge and improve their skills,” he said at the launch of the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR) “Productivity @ Kinabalu” and Academy in Industry (AiI) of the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) through the Persatuan Warga MPC (PWMPC) in collaboration with FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) here Tuesday.

His speech was read by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam.

Hajiji said the CSR programme was also in line with the State Government’s agenda in supporting and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the economic, social and environmental fields.

“It is also in line with the effort to achieve a balance between the needs of development operations and providing a positive impact to the community,” he explained.

At the event, MPC organised an AiI productive talent programme which is one of the agendas to empower future talent by targeting 50,000 local talents to be placed in the industry by 2025.

There were also presentations of 50 pieces of uniform jackets for the use of the Malim Gunung and a cash donation to the Persatuan Malim Gunung Kinabalu (Pemangkina).

Besides that, Ruslan also presented CSR contributions to the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bundu Tuhan National School and the Madrasah Rumah Transit Mualaf Sabah.

The Chief Minister’s Department’s Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat Chief Coordinating Officer Datuk Rosmadi Datu Sulai, MPC Deputy Director General Dr Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah, FGV Holdings Berhad Group Chief Communications Officer Azmi Yaakob and Sabah Parks Board Member Gabriel Sinit were also present.
