“SABAH is a very different society, we don’t care whoever we are, very much different, very friendly at heart, beautiful people,” said Ariffin Khan, businessman, entertainer and La Salle Alumni Social Secretary.

“When it comes to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, all kinds of people, be they of the same race, different race, same faith or different faith, come together to have unity in diversity to celebrate faith and gratitude, it has been a tradition generation to generation.

“This is very much different compared to any other place where diversity is there somewhat like Sabah and Sarawak but sadly, their politics is deteriorating but we must not do that, we must not let it go down but always stay strong in our unity,” Ariffin called out.

On the noticeable presence of non-Muslims at the State Hari Raya Open House, “It shows how close we are, it shows the closeness whether we are of different faiths, different religions, different backgrounds but this sort of celebration is already a winner to all of us,” he noted.

“We are a winner, of all the states in Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak are the winners. They have many, many things to learn from Sabah but when it comes to celebration, come to Sabah, see for yourselves how we are connected to each other.”

Meanwhile, State Hari Raya open house should continue, opined Director of Sabah Parks, Dr Maklarin bin Lakim.

“I think in terms of promoting understanding and unity of the people of Sabah, it helps rally all races to work together, so open houses are a good thing, it makes people feel happier, Happy Hari Raya for all people of Sabah, all races.”
