BASED on the commitments made by both the government and opposition leaders, Sabahans can expect a better life when the Malaysia Agreement (MA63) will be implemented by the Federal government to administer Sabah and Sarawak.

The commitment made by the Deputy Prime Minister that the Malaysia Agreement will be included in the Barisan Nasional Manifesto at the forthcoming General Election (GE14), is a positive commitment.

Over the last 50 years Sabah and Sarawak were ruled by the Federal Government through Parliament, and Parliament had amended the Constitution at least 56 times since then. Ninety percent of the amendments are considered fair and just to Sabah and Sarawak. However, Members of Parliament and the Federal Government had ignorantly and purposely never and ever made any reference to the Malaysia Agreement and the Twenty Points.

As such, it can be presumed that large numbers of the provisions in the Constitutions are not favourable to Sabah and Sarawak. This had contributed to at least 80 percent of the people of Sabah and Sarawak still poor.

Once the Malaysia Agreement is implemented in the Federal Administration for Sabah and Sarawak, there would be major changes in the economy of the people of Sabah and Sarawak.

There will be no restrictions for Sabah and Sarawak people and governments to deal directly with foreigners or foreign countries on any issue including the issue of Trade and Industry.

Sabahans and Sarawakians have been waiting for the moment then they do not have to go through Kuala Lumpur – a waste of time and money.

Therefore, for the benefit of the ordinary people of Sabah and Sarawak will organisations like MySabah outline the privileges between the Malaysian Constitution and the Malaysia Agreement.

List one by one what are missing from the Constitution, list also what are in the Malaysia Agreement which all previous Federal and State leaders are either ignorant or careless.

So far what is known and widely published that listed in the Malaysia Agreement, is in the Constitution, but were taken away by the Federal government.

These are the one third partnership and made into onethirteen partnership. This is a big difference legally.

The other is the Oil and Gas also taken by the Federal Government. If Oil and Gas come under State Government control, every Sabahans and Sarawakians will have annual bonuses of RM48,000 per person.

This works out to about RM4,000 per month per person.

Once again, I appeal to MySabah to publish a list of the benefits between the Malaysian Constitution and Malaysia Agreement to the people of Sabah and Sarawak. It may be that it is simpler to make MA63 and the 20 Points as part and parcel of the Malaysian Constitution.
