We are a group of miserable buyers of the StarCity shopping mall and would like to write this open letter to appeal to our beloved YAB Chief Minister of Sabah, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman to look into this dilemma of ours.

Most of us who are semi-retired/retired people, bought a unit in StarCity Shopping Mall back in 2007 or 11 years ago!

We were hoping that it will give us some rental income when we retire. The complex should have been completed in 2010, well before One Borneo, Suria and others but because of the inefficiency of the SUDC management at that time, the project was allowed to delay and then abandoned.

During that 11 years, nothing concrete and no positive action was taken against the developer who was bankrupted by one of the poor sub-contractors 3 years ago. If it wasn’t that sub-contractor, SUDC would still be sitting on it until today!

Only when the developer was bankrupted did SUDC try to take remedial action – quickly they terminated the JV agreement with the developer and seemed to spring into action.

but that was 3 years ago and the mess is still there today. It is a big eye sore to the many tourists who visit the area near Welcome Restaurant everyday!

The CM mentioned in the State Assembly that he will NOT hesitate to replace inefficient civil servants, that GLCs should choose reliable and reputable contractors as partners, in a transparent manner.

We sincerely look forward to positive action help us resolve this mess. SUDC is one such organisation that YAB should act to warn all the others.

SUDC is currently in negotiation with a potential contractor but is stuck at some technical issue.

We are sure the CM will be in a position to resolve this eye-sore once and for all.
