Someone under the pseudonym “Rational voter” wrote recently in response to a letter I wrote asking Datin Shim of the LDP to clarify whether or not Lim Guan Eng and the DAP was anti Malay & anti Islam.

I was hoping somebody would respond.

When I wrote as “ Confused voter” on the 2nd of April my purpose was to flush out any hidden agenda of Shim’s statement in the press with regards to Lim Guan Eng’s Islamic programmes in Penang. Shim is a Central Wanita leader of the LDP, a component of the BN. Let us revisit what she said and I quote “

It is difficult to fight if only few BN Chinese candidates : LDP”

Further down the press statement Shim says “ Look at the DAP led Penang Government.

Although Lim Guan Eng is the State’s Chief Minister, Penang has implemented more and more Islamisation and halal policies such as an Islamic hospital , halal market and halal tourism”.

Put both statements together and you will see what exactly Shim is saying. For the benefit of those who do not read between the lines, I will spell it out for you - Unless you elect more Chinese BN candidates in the coming election, there will be no one who can look after your interest as Lim Guan Eng and the DAP are more interested in promoting the Malay/Muslim agenda. Just look at Penang. But by putting more Chinese BN candidates in a position of power, we can act as a check and balance for the Chinese community to ensure we fight for your rights.

But it is difficult to do so if “only few BN Chinese candidates win”.

I do not believe I am far from the truth in getting to the bottom of her statement and what exactly Shim was getting at. By using innuendos and a play with words, she was hoping to put her message across.

This is what I fail to understand. If you as a politician have something to say, just say it.

If you have certain convictions and believe in them, just come out in the open and stand by your convictions.

Why beat around the bush ?

Frankly, I am not bothered by the actions of Lim Guan Eng and the DAP neither do I care.

Besides, I have no interest in what happens in Penang. I don’t vote there and I do not care two hoots about how he is running the State. Who speaks up for and against RUU 355 has little relevance to me at this point in time.

I only want to know if and when the bill is finally passed.

All the screaming and shouting about RUU 355 by who so ever is for the moment irrelevant and pointless.

Just wait for the show of hands. Then, and only then will we see wherein lies the honesty and deceit.

But for now, my advice to anyone who wants to gain political mileage at the expense of the other, just have be courage and say what you have to say. Let voters like me be the judge of whether or not it is convincing.

Just sock it to me between my eyes with straight talk. Forget the subtle messages, play with words or innuendos.
