Kota Kinabalu: Transport firms in the shipping container haulage business have notified importers of haulage fee increase effective May 15, according to Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SUCCC) President Datuk Michael Lui.
However, Lui, who is also Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) President, called on the firms to follow the exemplary cooperation of some shipping firms to temporarily freeze congestion surcharges.
He said they should engage with his Chambers to talk over the congestion issue.
In empathy over to the Sapangar Bay Container Port congestion issue, Lui said: “In the past, every lorry could expect to haul four to five containers per day. Now, many just manage to haul one, two if they are willing to do overtime and wait until night time.”
