Kota Kinabalu: Some 2,000 mangrove trees were planted along the Darau River at Kg Darau Wetland Eco-Tourism campsite, Manggatal, as part of the Local Agenda 21 (LA21) programme, Saturday.

The programme was organised by City Hall (DBKK) in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), Koperasi Komuniti Darau Wetland Berhad, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Department of Environmental Protection (JPAS), Department of Environment (DOE) and Jetama Sdn Bhd.

Mayor Datuk Dr Sabin Samitah said the “LA21 Programme: Planting 2,000 Mangrove Trees along Darau River” was to support the objectives of LA21, originating from the 1992 Earth Summit Conference.
