Hoping Rhinos get a winning start
ALL eyes will be on Sabah FC as we begin the 2024/2025 Super League season this Sunday against Penang FC at the Likas Stadium.

It is a new season with a new aspiration and it will be a great start with a victory over the visiting team in front of the home fans.

Sabah FC have retained almost all the first team players from last season apart from Rizal Ghazari and his place is now taken by new signing Charalampos “Haris” Stamboulidis from Australia.

I am sure all the Rhinos fans like me are eager to see Sabah FC win at least one silverware this season.

Head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has been with the team for the third year now and hopefully he has all the players required to fit in his system of play.

It will be an interesting match.

However, we must be aware that Penang FC have also bolstered their squad for the new season.

Last season, we defeated Penang FC both home and away but the records will not reflect on the match this Sunday as all teams are hoping for a winning start in the opening match.

I do believe Sabah FC have the edge to take all three points with the home ground advantage and fans support.

A win will definitely boost the players’ morale before the team travels to face Kelantan United on May 17 followed by another home game against Kuching City FC.

If we are able to collect the maximum nine points from the first three matches, it will be a fantastic start.

To be able to achieve that the players must go down to the field and score goals to win the games.

As we all know, if you can’t score goals, you can’t win games, so whoever is fielded by Datuk Ong against Penang FC must focus well on the game.

I hope the defence will stay rock solid, while the midfield and strikers will be able to create and take their chances to score.

I would also like to see Stuart Wilkin, Park Tae Su and other midfielders assist in finding the net for the team.

All said and done, good luck to Sabah FC.

Play well, play smart. The home fans and I will be cheering for you guys for a win!
