PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, whose alter ego is believed to be Papagomo, for allegedly making seditious remarks against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed that Wan Azri was arrested at his residence in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, around noon today, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“The application for remand against the individual is currently being processed.

“The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he was quoted as saying.

Wan Azri is believed to have made the remarks in a two-minute and 46-second video, where he questioned the king’s decision to grant an audience to KK Mart owner Chai Kee Kan.

In the same video, he also allegedly claimed that the king had ordered Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, to be charged in court under the Sedition Act.

Earlier today, a video of Wan Azri’s arrest by two police personnel went viral.
