Call for cloud seeding operations in Keningau
“Although cloud seeding has been done by the Government, Keningau District still has no rain and the drought continues. We hope the Government can do cloud seeding again,” Robert said.
KENINGAU: Assistant Minister of Public Works, Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin, hopes the Government will carry out cloud seeding operations specifically for the Keningau district.

He said the water supply at Bunsit, Agudon, Apin-Apin and Kampung Keningau water plants is in a critical condition.

Robert, who is also a Bingkor Assemblyman, said if it does not rain in a few weeks, it is feared that the water supply will be cut off.

“Although cloud seeding has been done by the Government, Keningau District still has no rain and the drought continues. We hope the Government can do cloud seeding again,” he said after the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 4 breaking of fast ceremony at the Keningau Fire and Rescue station here.

He also said the District Natural Disaster Committee is ready to channel water supply assistance to any village without water supply.

Meanwhile, JPBM Sabah Deputy Director Farhan Sufyan Borhan said in the run-up to Aidilfitri, only 20 per cent of the fire brigade members are allowed to go on vacation according to the station’s proportional area.

“There is also a possibility that we will freeze holidays but it depends on the future situation,” he said.
