Kota Kinabalu: In pioneering the digital transformation for the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Travel Fair, Tourism Malaysia unveiled a 24-hour live flash sales campaign spotlighting a selection of 58 holiday packages catering to various budgets offered by over 29 esteemed travel agents from Sabah and Labuan, including Malaysia Aviation Group, on its Facebook platform on March 8.

Set to redefine the landscape of travel promotion, this groundbreaking “Bah! Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Online Bundle Travel Fair 2024” was broadcast from a state-of-the-art green studio in Penampang and jointly organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Sabah, Malaysian Inbound Chinese Association (MICA), Sabah Tourist Association (STA), Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).

This two-day event aimed to highlight the enchanting tourist destinations in Kudat district, West Coast, inland or interior parts of Sabah, including Sandakan, Tawau and Labuan, inviting visitors to explore Malaysia’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.

Apart from exciting interactive quiz sessions, Tourism Malaysia also featured six inspirational speakers to provide comprehensive perspectives on the offerings of Sabah and Labuan.

Among them is Ron Pudin of the Sabah Bird Association, shedding light on birding in Sabah; Alexander Yee, delving into turtle conservation efforts; Dr Wong Siew Te, an authority on Borneo Sun Bear conservation; Julinus Jeffrey Jimit of Sabah Tourism Board, offering insights into Community Based Tourism initiatives; Mahathir Abd Hamid of Labuan Corporation, discussing the attractions of Labuan Island; and Monica Chin of Malaysian Scuba Diving Association, elucidating on the wealth of underwater treasures through “Sabah & Labuan 101 Dive Treasures”.

Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, said:

“In today’s digital age, we are witnessing a significant shift in how we promote travel. With platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, travel agencies can now reach global audiences more efficiently and affordably.

“I am thrilled to see the enthusiastic participation of attendees and industry leaders here today. Together, we are stepping into a new era of online travel promotion. Tourism Malaysia recognises the importance of digital promotion, allowing us to showcase Malaysia’s beauty to the boundless world in innovative and inspiring ways.”
