The offence, under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old Filipino was tentatively charged in the Magistrate’s Court here, Tuesday, with trafficking 1,593.10gm of cannabis.

Mohamad Haffizul Hamza Abdullah, who was brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, allegedly committed the offence at 3.35pm on Feb 19 this year, in a room of a unit at Taman Ketiau, near here.

However, no plea was recorded from Haffizul.

The offence, under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.

The prosecution in applying for a mention date objected bail as the charge has no provision for bail.

Lovely fixed April 5 for mention and ordered the accused to be further remanded.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik prosecuted.

Haffizul was represented by counsel Hairul V. Othman.
