Kota Kinabalu: A former Sarawak-based lawyer was sentenced to six years’ jail and ordered given a stroke of the cane for committing physical sexual harassment against his girlfriend’s daughter.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus meted out the sentence to Kueh Kay Foo, 55, after ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt against Kueh.

Kueh was found guilty of committing the offence against the 11-year-old girl by hugging and holding her thigh as well as her breasts at an apartment in Penampang between April 23, 2019 and May 15, 2019.
He was convicted under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and also liable to whipping, on conviction.
The court also ordered Kueh to undergo counselling during his detention and to be placed under police supervision for three years after completing his sentence.
However, Kueh managed to obtain a stay of his execution pending an appeal to the High Court against the decision.

The court had extended his bail of RM20,000 with RM15,000 in a local surety pending the disposal of the case.
During the trial, the prosecution called six witnesses while the defence produced two witnesses including Kueh himself.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Rozana Abdul Hadi conducted the prosecution while Kueh represented himself.
