LAHAD DATU: The participation of young professionals in the party is a positive indicator that can lead to the continuation of Upko leadership.

Its President, Datuk Ewon Benedick, expressed confidence that the party is on the right track with increasing support from former members as well as new members.

“As Upko President, my two priorities are to empower the entrepreneurial movement including cooperatives and education movement through education assistance support service.

“In the past year, Upko has faced and become one of the main players for these two areas,” he said, adding that he also welcomes new support from young professionals, entrepreneurs as their response towards the party’s effort.

Ewon said this after receiving membership applications from a young entrepreneur in the hospitality sector in Lahad Datu, Shawn Malanjum.

He said Shawn’s admission was a positive indication for the party.

During the Upko’s convention last year, Ewon extended invitation to former party members as well as to new members.

Following this, former Upko Deputy President, Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing, former Head of Upko Putatan Division, Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh, former Deputy Head of Youth, Kennedy John and former Head of Upko Kadamaian Division, Mail Balinu are among those who rejoined Upko.
