RANAU: The Mount Kinabalu Search and Rescue (Mosar) team rescued a Chinese national who suffered injury while scaling Mount Kinabalu, Saturday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at Km 8.5 of the Mount Kinabalu climbing trail around 7.40am.

“We received a call through the station line and a eight-member Mosar team and two Fire and Rescue personnel led by Operation Officer Kamidin Rasim rushed to the scene. Also involved were two Sabah Parks rangers and two mountain guides.

“On arrival at the location some 4km from the Mosar post, we found a woman climber who had fallen and sustained an injury (sprained right leg) during descent.

“The Mosar team and mountain guides gave initial treatment to the victim before bringing her down using a Robinson Stretcher towards Timpohon Gate,” he said.

Ridwan said the victim was sent to Ranau Hospital using an EMRS vehicle for further treatment.
