KENINGAU: The problem between the beneficiaries and developer whether the government-linked company (GLC) or private company appointed to develop the Mandalom Communal Title area in Sook needs to be resolved according to the law.

Sook Assemblyman Datuk Ellron Angin said this is important to create a ‘win-win situation’ between the beneficiaries and the developer.

He said a roundtable meeting between the beneficiaries and the developer whould be held to find solutions and consensus.

“We do not want the dispute between the two parties to continue without a solution,” he said at a dialogue session on the Mandalom Communal Title issues held at Kampung Biah Tengah, near here.

The dialogue organised by the Keningau Lands and Survey Department Office involved 21 villages which sent their representatives to voice the problems faced by the beneficiaries.

The dialogue session received positive response from the villages’ representatives who expressed their problems related to the joint ventures between them as beneficiaries with government agencies and private companies as implementers.

Ellron, who is also the Youth and Sports Minister, said the dialogue was aimed to identify the root cause of the problem that has affected the joint venture between the beneficiaries and developer.

“As a representative of the people, I am happy with the positive response and involvement from the village representatives involved,” he said.

According to him, this is one of his commitments to help the people solve the Communal Title problem that is hotly discussed in the Sook and Nabawan areas.

“The dialogue to find a solution is to help the villagers, especially in Sook,” he said.

Also present were Tulid Assemblywoman Flovia Ng, who is also the Assistant Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister, Principal Senior Assistant Director (Lands) Kota Kinabalu, Gilbert Gondungan, Sook Assistant Sub-district Officer Caroline Benjamin Jiugan, Assistant Collector of Land Revenue Thomas Ikon and officers from the Keningau Lands and Survey Department Office.
