PUTRAJAYA: The home ministry will collect all necessary information about three leaders from Muslim NGOs on a US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) terrorist screening centre list, says minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He confirmed the FBI had made enquiries about the three men.
ADVERTISEMENT “I contacted Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain two days ago to obtain a clearer picture and was informed that the FBI had indeed made a request.
“However, we require more details before we can provide further information as I am not willing to give out anything ambiguous,” he told reporters after officiating the Shaftsbury passport office here today.
On Saturday, FMT reported that three leaders of Islamic organisations in Malaysia had been placed on the FBI’s terrorist watchlist.
Ops Ihsan secretariat chairman Jismi Johari, who has been involved in channelling aid to Palestinians in Gaza, confirmed he had been notified of the watchlist by the foreign ministry in a letter dated Feb 15.
ADVERTISEMENT In the letter, a copy of which was leaked online, the ministry instructed Ops Ihsan to cease working with the three people on the list.
Jismi said the trio had minimal involvement in Ops Ihsan’s activities, although he was still gathering more details on the extent of their participation.
