Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Muslim Converts Association (PMMS) aims to distribute 200 worship kits to members this year.

PMMS Chairperson Alisha Zulaikha Azzahra Asok Abdullah said such distribution is part of the worship kit distribution programme in collaboration with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) Sabah branch for the past two years.

“Although the association is based in Tawau, its activities cover almost all of Sabah. One of the closest is the donation of the worship kits to ‘Kelas Bimbingan Saudara Kita’ (KBSK) in Tamparuli.

“So far, we have distributed almost 300 kits via the programme for two years in a row.

“Other programmes that PMMS had organised covers family, religious and economic aspects since 2015 in collaboration with Hidayah Centre, apart from Jakim,” she said.

Alisha added that PMMS plans to collaborate with the Yayasan Nur Jauhar to distribute the female Muslim convert kits to members.

“This year, we are requesting the Yayasan Nur Jauhar to contribute and distribute female Muslim convert kits instead of the worship kits,” she said after paying a courtesy call on the consort of the Head of State, Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni at Istana Seri Kinabalu, here, recently.

In conjunction with the month of Ramadan, Alisha said PMMS also plans to hold a breaking-the-fast ceremony, in addition to continuing the distribution of breaking-the-fast meals.

With a slogan “Empowering Muslim Converts to Succeed in the Hereafter”, she said the association now has 300 members who are new ones in and after the year 2000.

Earlier, Norlidah received a visit from the Sabah State Ethnic Group Organisation (Presbah) represented by its President Yahya Ahmad and its Chairperson of the Bureau of Economic Development and Women’s Business, Datuk Paduka Rehan Rahim.

During the visit, he said the association would continue to help develop entrepreneurs who need support and assistance in business in Sabah.
