Kota Kinabalu: The passenger ferry plying the newly opened sea route between Lahad Datu (Sabah) and Tanjung Silopo (W. Sulawesi) is not receiving encouraging response after two scheduled voyages.
The operator of M/V Cathleya Express said the December maiden and January 15 voyages registered less than one-third of the vessel’s total 1,400-bed capacity.

M/V Cathleya Express owner Rudy Effendi hoped the passenger load would increase in the coming months.
The Indonesia-based ferry operator fears eventual suspension of the ferry service should the company continue to experience poor response from the public in Sabah, a source said.
