ITCC clarifies source of water pouring from property side
“It is important to clarify that the rainwater gutter drain overflow discharge pipe is designed for the purpose of managing excess rainwater from the complex, and it does not contain clean water suitable for human consumption or use.
Kota Kinabalu: ITCC Penampang Management Sdn Bhd on Sunday provided clarification stating that the water pouring from its property’s side is rainfall gutter drain overflow discharge pipe rather than sanitary water as had been claimed.

“ITCC Penampang Management Sdn Bhd regrets that there was a confusion from a member of the public,” said its representative Albert Yap in a statement, here, Sunday.

His statement came in response to an article published in Daily Express on Jan 14 regarding alleged water wastage at ITCC.

“We remain committed to optimising the water usage at our complex and will continue to be proactive to ensure the safety and well-being of the public,” said Albert.

“It is important to clarify that the rainwater gutter drain overflow discharge pipe is designed for the purpose of managing excess rainwater from the complex, and it does not contain clean water suitable for human consumption or use.

“Our priority is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors to the shopping mall complex.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that water resources are utilised efficiently and that accurate information is disseminated to the public.

“We value the feedback and concerns raised by the general public, and we are committed to addressing any issues or misconceptions that may arise.

“As part of our commitment to transparency, we are available to provide further clarification on any matters related to the infrastructure and operations of the ITCC Penampang Shopping Mall complex,” he said.

A member of the public recently expressed shock that thousands of gallons of water have been gushing form the storage facility at the left side of the entrance to the premises for nearly a month with so many people in many places in Sabah are having to buy bottled mineral water in order to bathe, drink or cook.

Member of the public also expressed how nice it would be if the complex management spared some thought and installed tanks to channel the water into them and invite the public and nearby residents to take the water home in containers as part of its CSR.
