Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged in the Magistrate Court, Wednesday, over counterfeit money.
Muhammad Redzzuan Abdul Rahman, 27, pleaded not guilty before High Court Deputy Registrar Syarifuddin Abdul Rasa who sat as Magistrate, for possessing a piece of fake RM20 note with the intent to use it as genuine at 12.30am on Jan 10 at the police station in Kepayan.

Mohd Noor Hafizan Azlan, 24, also pleaded not guilty for having a piece of a fake RM20 note and 52 fake RM50 notes with the intent to use them as genuine on Jan 10 at 1.30am at a house in Lorong Bunga Patuma, Kepayan.
They were charged under Section 489C of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 10 years, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Al-Hakim Abdul Razak applied for a new mention date and proposed bail at RM7,000 with two local sureties for Redzzuan.
Duty Counsel Carmen Khoo, representing both Redzzuan and Noor Hafizan, applied for a lenient bail amount, considering their occupations as network developers.

Syarifuddin released Redzzuan on a bail of RM3,500 and Noor Hafizan on a bail of RM6,000 with two local sureties.
Syarifuddin fixed March 1 as the next mention date for Redzzuan and Feb 29 for Noor Hafizan.

Meanwhile, Noor Hafizan also pleaded not guilty to another count of using three fake RM50 notes to make payment on Dec 19, 2023, at 11am at Shell Golden Hill Enterprise.
He is charged under Section 489B of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and liability to a fine, on conviction.
Syarifuddin offered RM6,000 for bail and fixed the mention date at the Session Court on Feb 15.
