PUTATAN: Delicious Curry House (DCH), an award-winning restaurant known for its signature curry and asam pedas dishes, on Tuesday officially unveiled its newest branch within the bustling district of Putatan.

Its owner, Jacky Lim, said opening a second branch resembles its continued aspiration to promote Sabah’s locally sourced seafood with mouth-watering flavours at reasonable price within a comfortable dining environment.

He said the new branch can accommodate up to 500 customers with its air-conditioned 8,000 sq ft space with outdoor seating, compared to only 300 customers at its first branch at 88 Marketplace, Kepayan.

“Delicious Curry House has been running for almost five years. After the Movement Control Order (MCO) during the Covid-19 pandemic, we decided to expand and make it bigger,” he told Daily Express during the grand opening of DCH Putatan, here, Tuesday.

Private function rooms are also available at the new branch, giving customers the opportunity to host small gatherings, wedding receptions, training and courses, as well as team-building activities.

Jacky said DCH remains committed to offering an exceptional gastronomic experience to both locals and tourists by maintaining the strictest quality control and using only the freshest ingredients.

“All of our sauces are made fresh daily. The chef will start making it at 6.30am until 9.30am. We do not use any powders or premixes, everything is handmade. We even make our own tofu.

“We also have a special team who go out to the market at 4.30am to buy ingredients, where they handpick only the best. We do not purchase any ingredients via delivery,” he added.

Jacky explained that the business also operates with a central kitchen and a dedicated quality control team in order to ensure the food standard remains consistent between the two existing DCH branches.

He said DCH recently received the 2023 Sabah Trusted Brand Award from the National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) and the Asean Best Curry Award in Jakarta, adding DCH is slated to receive another consumer choice award soon.

With DCH’s resounding success, Jacky plans to take the business beyond Sabah’s borders and venture into franchising in the future.

“For our future expansion, we will go into franchising as we want to create a Sabahan brand that boasts of its fresh seafood and good taste.

“A lot of people are asking us to start franchising in the peninsula, such as Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru. We are planning to do this next year,” he said.
