Kota Kinabalu: The Persatuan Persahabatan Artis KDMR Sabah (PPAKS) is in the process of changing its name to Persatuan Persahabatan Artis Momogun Sabah (PPAMS) to allow it to be joined by all ethnic groups in Sabah.

PPAKS Chairman Paulus Kuag said the association’s new identity is in the process of eROSES system documentation or application through the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

“This change of identity has been unanimously approved by the association members so that it is not misunderstood that participation is only open to the Kadazandusun Murut Rungus (KDMR) only.

“Our association is actually for all levels of society or ethnicity in Sabah to join to dignify the cultural heritage of each tribe in the State through songs,” he said when met at the Santai Christmas 2023 Celebration at Betty Jipol’s residence in Kampung Minintod, Inanam, here.

Paulus was the organising chairman of the event, which was officiated by Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is also PPAKS Honorary Patron.

Also present were PPAKS Patron Joinis Mantahan; PPAKS Advisor I Joseph Singkawan; PPAKS Advisor II Saimon Galib and PPAKS Secretary Raimi Jukin.

Paulus said the association’s name or identity change was initially proposed by Madius to allow all ethnic groups under the Momogun Sabah to join the association before all PPAKS members agreed with it.

“Our association always provides a platform for all ages to help communities in the State dignify their mother tongue through singing talent,” he said.

It is understood that the association now has 101 members from almost all districts in Sabah and is active in performing in invitational events and charity programmes.

Meanwhile, the Mega Piombolutan series 7, 8, 9 and 10 album was also launched at the event.

“The songs for the album series 7 and 8 involve composer Valentine Vitus through Nuluhon Studio, while the album songs for series 9 involve composer Francis Goluis through Turol Sound Studio and series 10 by composer Nickolas Kitchaw Goringo through NK Productions,” he said.

More than 200 people attended the event which was made merrier by a singing competition, a queen mother contest, a Christmas choir and a lucky ticket draw.
