Kota Kinabalu: Tenom won the mother of all gold medals after their men’s football team defeated Telupid 3-1 in the final of the 10th Sabah Games at Likas Stadium on Friday.
The team had earlier beaten Tuaran 2-0 in the semi-final while Telupid edged Tawau 2-1 in the other tie.

Tuaran went on to take the bronze after beating Tawau 2-1 in the shoot-out after both teams tied 3-3 in normal time in the playoff.
It was a double delight for Tenom as they also won the women’s gold in football after thrashing Ranau 5-1 in the final.
Earlier in the semi-final, they beat Kota Kinabalu 2-1 while Ranau defeated Kota Belud 4-0.
The playoff for the bronze medal was won by Kota Kinabalu after edging Kota Belud 3-2.

Meanwhile, Keningau won the men’s hockey gold after defeating Kota Belud 4-1 in the final while the women’s title went to Putatan who scored a narrow 1-0 victory over Kudat in the final.
Tawau and Keningau won the bronze medals in the men’s and women’s category following their 3-2 and 3-1 wins over Kota Kinabalu and Beaufort in the playoff respectively.
