Kota Kinabalu: The new Malaysian Standard (MS EN 1992-4:2023) Design of concrete structures hopes to improve the existing methods in the building and construction industry, especially on reinforced concrete.

Sabah Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Chairperson Ir Dr Tom Ngui said the production and implementation of this new standard regarding concrete anchors and fasteners is vital for industry players in terms of performance, safety and reliability.

In the absence of a standardised method in the country, he said the new MS – developed over two years through extensive collaboration among experts in the field – hopes to set forth a comprehensive framework to enhance quality, safety and efficiency in concrete anchors used widely in building and structure applications.

“This standard establishes a benchmark that meets current needs and anticipates future challenges while demonstrating the country’s commitment in staying at the forefront of engineering advancements.
